Best Approach for Windshield Rust Repair?

Hey everyone,

I’m working on fixing up a 2005 Mustang and ran into an issue with rust around the windshield flange.

Some corrosion needs addressing before reinstalling the glass. I want to make sure I do it right to prevent future leaks or structural issues.

What’s the best approach for treating and sealing rust in this area? Should I cut out and replace the metal, or will a rust converter and sealant be enough?

Any recommendations for primers or coatings?

Appreciate any advice from those who’ve tackled this before!
